Category: Workshop

(90-minute webinar – available live or on-demand)
Tuesday, October 8, 2024
3:00 - 4:30 PM Eastern

Calling all volunteers! This is not a train-the-trainer training. It is designed for volunteers who want to learn more about bereavement and how it manifests. Part 1 of this two-part program will revolve around the advanced concepts of grief, loss, communication, and intervention. Join us to learn more about how to detect complex grief and techniques to manage it.

AFTER THIS WEBINAR YOU’LL BE ABLE TO:

  • Discuss the importance of and find two ways to utilize the Bereavement Volunteer Training program
  • List four signs of complicated or complex grief
  • Understand the concept of low, medium, and high risk related to bereavement care
  • Demonstrate four techniques that move beyond “active listening” and encourage people to share important information
  • Demonstrate two advanced, critical communication techniques specific to complex grief responses

WEBINAR DETAILS:  The Bereavement Volunteer Training program is designed for volunteers who have completed an initial hospice volunteer training course. While volunteer managers are encouraged to attend this webinar, this is not a webinar on how to teach this course, but instead, this is the actual course that volunteers should attend. Part 1 of this two-part series is designed to provide in-depth training for volunteers who wish to work in a bereavement program. It will cover techniques and interventions that are more advanced than those in typical, initial volunteer training courses.

THIS WEBINAR WILL BENEFIT THE FOLLOWING AGENCIES: Hospice, Palliative Care

WHO SHOULD ATTEND? This informative session is designed for volunteers and volunteer managers.
